Latest Issue of Journal of Adult and Continuing Education dedicated to Jarl Bengtsson

The latest Issue of Journal of Adult and Continuing Education edited by guest editor, Hans Schuetze has been dedicated to the work of Jarl Bengtsson.

It contains articles from many of his close colleagues in PASCAL and within the OECD, including Hans himself, Chris Duke, Peter Kearns, Steve Garlick, Catherine Odora Hoppers, Bruce Wilson, Muir Houston and myself.

Urban Big Data PhD Scholarship - School choice and housing markets in urban Scotland

Applications are invited for one of three PhD studentships to commence in October 2015. The studentship is funded by the University of Glasgow and will be based within the Urban Big Data Centre (UBDC). We are very pleased to announce that the next PASCAL conference will be hosted from 7-9 October 2015 by the University of Catania in Italy with the title, Connecting Cities and Universities at Strategic Frontiers, and under the co-ordination of PASCAL Associate Director in Europe, Professor Roberta Piazza.

How entrepreneurial is your Higher Education Institution?

The HEInnovate project funded by the EC and OECD offers a range of dimensions for consideration in measuring the extend to which HEIs are entrepreneurial. A concept paper produced by the project is attached.

University Grants Commission of India and community engagement

I am glad to share with you that as a result of the collective efforts of PRIA and the UNESCO Chair in India, the vision for community engagement in HEIs, as outlined in the 12th Five year plan document, has been finally made operational.

New Associate Directors in Europe

We are very pleased to announce that Dr Ilpo Laitinen, City of Helsinki, Professor Balázs Németh, University of Pecs and Professor Roberta Piazza, University of Catania, have been appointed as Associate Directors of PASCAL. They will respectively have responsibility for developing the work of PASCAL in the Nordic countries, Eastern and Central Europe, and in Southern Europe.

Innovation in Higher Education in Europe - a new report with PASCAL inputs

The final report and annexes of case studies from a Study on Innovation in Higher Education undertaken for the European Union in 2013 led by LSE Enterprise and the Panteia Group have just been published. PASCAL undertook two of the case studies within this study, which are found in the annex as follows:
